Our Client is a Global Market Leader whose products are used in many different applications and end-markets, including ports, steel mills and heavy industries.

Activity: Railway tracks (fastening system) - Metal constructions - Crane tracks

Experience
At least 3-5 years on management of projects related to construction/steel/railway industry: Involved in projects of at least +100M USD in value

Main objective
- Prepare tender documents and estimations
- Execute technical, planning, construction documents
- Coordinate with team members and Client
- Earn Value Management; cost controlling, P&Ls for projects

Technical: Good knowledge of steel-related construction market, technical aspects of steel industry, and especially of crane track industry being an asset.

Language Fluent in English; Any other language being an asset preferably Arabic &/or French

Salary: AED14,000

Economic and financial aspects
The Project Engineer is responsible for the organization, the execution, the daily follow-up and the efficient as well as proficient close-up of the assigned projects in the field of Crane Tracks, in accordance with the quality  standards and Group guidelines & policies of  the  company.
 
He is deputed to the preparation of quotations on Tender Stage; in particular, with other departments (Technical Dept., Purchase Dept., Back-Office, Installation Dept. and Financial Dept.), he shall prepare the first assessment of the project for:
  • Technical feasibility;
  • Planning feasibility for production, purchase, shipment and installation;
  • Initial resources allocation (manpower and machinery);
  • Financial compliancy of the general contract clauses, timelines and conditions.
  • Cost controlling and project P&Ls
Depending on the project and its complexity, he is in charge and responsible of the development and follow-up of each phase of the project lifecycle, by cooperating proficiently with all involved Departments. These phases can be summarized as follow:
  • Tender Phase, until the signature of the contract;
  • Pre-Execution Phase, including production, submission and approval of technical documents, purchasing, shipment, organization of future site activities together with the Installation Manager; during this phase, he shall ensure correct allocation and check of resources (manpower and machinery) in detail for site activities, as well as prepare a detailed planning of the project;
  • Execution Phase: in this phase, he is responsible of the follow-up of the site activities by working jointly with the Installation Manager, in order to ensure the respect of all contractual conditions, of the detailed planning and of the detailed resources allocation, until the final handover of the site to the Client;
  • Project Close-Up: in this phase, jointly with the Financial Dept., he is in charge of the final calculation regarding the project’s economical and financial status, as well as of the outlining of the lessons learnt and final reporting to his General Manager.
The Project Engineer is in charge of the control and approval of all economic and financial aspects of his projects. In particular, he is in charge of the following activities, for which he will cooperate proactively in strict contact with the Financial Dept. and the assigned Project Controler:
  • Initial financial assessment of the project;
  • Costs initial forecast;
  • Cost detailed forecast
  • General and detailed financial forecasts;
  • Approval of all project-related costs, including all suppliers’ quotes, sub-contractors’ progress payments and any other cost occurring during the project lifecycle, e.g. the budget for daily site activities and expenses; he shall ultimately give his approval for invoicing, and will actively require updates on the status of expenses;
  • Preparation of the payments requests to the Client, from advance payment to the monthly progress payments during execution phase, by working jointly with the Financial Dept. and the Back-Office and the Installation Manager; he shall request an update not only on the invoices sub-mission, but also of the payed sums, in order to be able to follow the cash-flow status of the project;
  • He shall report to his General Manager bi-monthly on the economic and financial status of his projects.
Depending on the company's priorities, the job holder may be assigned other tasks within his skills and competences and for which he will be trained by a third party if needed.
 
  
Competencies
TechnicsGood knowledge of steel-related construction market, technical aspects of steel industry, and especially of crane track industry being an asset.
LanguageFluent in English; Any other language being an asset preferably Arabic &/or French
ITGood knowledge of the Office Package, including but not limited to Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint;
Good knowledge of AutoCad 2D/3D or equivalent;
Any other technical or management software being an asset.
